What to do

Besides all the water sports that one expects from a river resort, including river cruises, Murray Bridge offers wonderful walks, around town or in the bush, motor racing, horse racing and HPV racing – that is human powered vehicles, where enthusiasts peddle for 6-24 hours to win the International Pedal Prix.

The close-by Monarto Zoo can be visited in a vehicle with guide, or on foot. The mallee woodland habitat is home to many native bird species and imported wildlife like bison, ostriches and eland. Mallee Park offers 400 acres of bush which can be explored on quad bikes. Golf, Ten Pin Bowling and a cinema round out potential activities in Murray River.

Murray Bridge is also the centre of a farming area producing pigs, chickens and dairy product as well as cereals and vegetables. The climate is semi-arid with warm summers and cool winters.

Dining

Dining options begin with the elegant Table 55 and Riverscape Restaurant, various wineries and progress through basic international cuisine – Indian, Chinese, Italian – to US-inspired fast food restaurants.
