Things to Do

Most activities are related to water – fishing, yachting, water-skiing, speed-boat racing, swimming and parasailing. But there is also golf on the largest golf course in the southern hemisphere (it has 45 holes), quiet river beaches and walking tracks to explore, as well as great bushwalking experiences in the area. Chinaman’s Island has an easy (even for wheelchairs) 2km trail from which you can see the island’s lake with a huge array of birds including cockatoos, galahs, and many water birds.

Mulwala is home to the Yarrawonga-Mulwala Pioneer Museum exhibiting thousands of artifacts and photographs depicting the area’s history. 23km north of Mulwala is Savernake Station, an 1886 homestead and related buildings set in 400 hectares of pristine woodland. The station also offers accommodation.

Shopping and Dining

You can sample local wines at any of the three licensed clubs and eat at several charming bistros and restaurants.
